Cain Velasquez will not be participating in the tag team match with Rey Mysterio at his hometown in Mexico. As per the latest tweet from WWE, Mysterio will be teaming up with Humberto Carrillo against Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. There has been no official word on why Velasquez was pulled out of the match but it might be due to his injured knee.
The former UFC heavyweight champion has been suffering from a knee issue for a while. At Smackdown’s Fox debut last month, he came out wearing a knee brace. As per Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, the injured knee also saw his match against Brock Lesnar, at Crown Jewel, being a short one – Velasquez tapped out to the champion in a little over two minutes.
Velasquez may not be competing in the match but he will attend the event and is expected to cheer for his team from the ringside. WWE will be hoping that he gets fit for Wrestlemania 36, where he is likely to face Lesnar in a rematch.
The Miz to face “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt for Universal title –
The Miz is set to face “The Fiend” Bray Wyat for the Universal championship at the live event in Mexico on 30 November. Earlier, WWE had advertised Seth Rollins for the match but the result of Crown Jewel saw Miz replacing former champion, who dropped the title at Crown Jewel.
Interestingly, Miz was host Wyatt on The Miz TV last week but the segment could not take place as Wyatt was one of the superstars who were in Riyadh.
The latest update also brings back Miz into the title picture; though it is unlikely that there will be a title change at a live event. He last held Smackdown’s tag team championship along with Shane McMahon, which they lost to The Usos.
